Programme at a glance
- Category
- Cloud & Hyperscaler
- Programme type
- Cloud Solution Provider authorisation with two models - indirect reseller (buys through a distributor) and direct-bill (buys from Microsoft)
- Margin model
- Indirect resellers resell what their distributor buys from Microsoft; direct-bill partners buy from Microsoft and bill customers themselves. Billing partners running 24x7 Azure operations can earn partner earned credit. Incentive earnings split between rebate and co-op; rates aren't published.
- Partner tiers
- No CSP tiers. Solutions Partner designations in six solution areas need a partner capability score of at least 70 of 100 points across performance, skilling and customer success.
- Best for
- Partners delivering managed services; indirect suits those who don't want to run billing and support, direct-bill suits those with their own sales, billing and support infrastructure
- Deal registration
- Not published by vendor
- Deal registration notes
- No deal registration process is published for CSP resale. Microsoft's referral and co-sell tools sit outside the scope of this card.
- Protection window
- Not published by vendor
- MDF
- Yes
- MDF gating
- Co-op marketing funds accrue from Microsoft incentive earnings and are claimed with proof of execution. Funds not used in the following six-month usage period are forfeited; co-op below a threshold converts to rebate.
- Partner requirements
- Demanding - Direct-bill needs USD one million trailing 12-month CSP revenue, a capabilities assessment, a Solutions Partner designation and annual business vetting, plus a paid Microsoft support plan. Indirect resellers need USD $1,000 trailing 12-month CSP revenue per location, reassessed annually. Solutions Partner designations carry an annual fee.

How to read the charts
- Charted entries have been checked and scored by indyrct, and show when we last verified them. Sighted entries are compiled from public sources and aren't scored yet.
- The Value Radar scores a programme out of 10 on four things: Propensity, Profitability, Priority and Presence. A bigger shape means a stronger programme for partners. The total is out of 40.
- Partner requirements are what a partner has to meet to join or keep its status, such as revenue targets, certifications, requalification or credit checks. We rate them Light, Moderate or Demanding.
- A dashed, empty radar means we haven't charted that programme yet. 'Not published by vendor' means the vendor doesn't say publicly - not that the programme lacks it.
